A few weeks ago I received a phone call from a girl (Cristiana), who asked me the availability of the Bistro to host some meetings Literature Festival in Milan.

As she spoke I had a moment of confusion, a sort of detachment from reality.

It is rumored that in 2012 the world will end. Apparently the Mayans have said, but there is no trace in interceptions. There is some disagreement even among the translators. Some argue, for example, that in reality what happens is not quite the end of the world, but a sea change that will involve the whole of humanity. I do not know you, I like the perspective. So I think it's worth embarking on one of those adventures that before we never dared to even imagine. One of those that now appear in all their bewildering complexity, with their load of flaws, disruptions of its rhythms, fatigue, complexity. Those from which, we are not going back whole.

Those who, if we stop to think about it, though tempted, we end up postponing the next year.

Returning to the theme…. Why create a Literature Festival in Milan?

I can think of only two or three answers (of course there are thousands). The first: why is not there. The second, because I think it's necessary. The third, because I think it's when you're at the mercy of fear and uncertainty that feels stronger the need for beauty.

The people who write and those who read, people who play and one that assists people singing, that spellbound, playing, printing, which designs, which tells that suffers, that complaint, which fascinates .. .

And try to turn the thread of living a thousand and one cultural realities rattling relentlessly by a cosmopolitan metropolis, in a colorful carpet, perhaps one on which pass, allowing Mayas, to the subsequent editions.
